Most organizations rely on network inventory tools to catalog the hardware and software across their IT infrastructure. But does periodically running scans to populate spreadsheets with rows of device data fully realize the value of that investment? Extracting meaningful insights requires tapping into capabilities that go beyond basic inventory collection but remain accessible to technology generalists.

This article showcases advanced yet user-friendly network inventory platform features that empower IT, teams, to deeply analyze asset inventory information, integrate with other systems, and customize tracking aligned to business priorities. Unlocking an inventory tool’s full potential boosts efficiency, risk management, and planning. Visit softinventive.com to explore how the right network inventory tool can transform your IT management.

Intuitive Custom Query Building

While pre-configured queries deliver common asset list reports, ad hoc business questions demand filtering device data differently. Simple checkboxes are limited, but learning query languages like SQL or dealing with rigid templates also impedes users. Custom query builders bridge the divide.

An intuitive search interface allows combining vital categories like hardware specs, software titles, location details, lease expiration dates, etc. with Boolean logic. This transforms inventory data into flexible segmented lists without coding barriers, unlike exploring raw databases. Queries are saved for reuse while new needs are quickly addressed by refining search criteria.

API and Webhook Integrations

Inventory platforms accumulate immense device data from across networks. However, security tools, service desk apps, monitoring software, and other systems also provide contextual IT insights. API and webhook integrations blend data streams for greater awareness.

Common integration examples include:

  • Triggering alerts in monitoring tools when unauthorized hardware changes are logged
  • Enriching ticketing system device profiles with hours of usage data
  • Blocking network access for devices with prohibited apps installed
  • Automating warranty claims when hardware failures are detected

No manual exporting, reformatting and uploading needed. Real-time data syncing delivers integrated efficiency.

Custom Reporting and Scheduling

Purpose-built reporting enhances inventory data visualization beyond basic tables or spreadsheets. Management requires executive dashboards with graphs summarizing hardware lifecycles, software spending trends, security risks, and operational metrics. IT teams need reports filtered by network segments, locations, and other attributes.

Custom reports incorporate:

  • Branded templates and formatting
  • Multiple file type exports like PDF, Excel, CSV
  • Scheduled generation and role-based delivery
  • Hundreds of layout and chart combinations

Automated-focused reporting provides insights for fact-based strategic decisions.

Best Practices for Unlocking Data Potential

Ensuring Success in Your Data Journey

To truly unlock the potential of network inventory data, organizations should consider the following best practices:

  • Regularly Review Data Access Needs: Ensure that the right people have the right level of access to the data they need.
  • Invest in Training: Educate your IT team on how to use these advanced features effectively.
  • Start Small and Scale: Begin with a small project to demonstrate value, then scale your efforts based on success.

Role-Based Insights and Security

Inventory tools aggregate immense amounts of consolidated data pulled from across entire networks. These details cover a range of aspects, including infrastructure specifications, software titles, authentication credentials, usage patterns, and traffic flows. While technology generalists may run inventory scans, customized and contextually relevant dataset access aligned to specific user profiles limits unnecessary exposure.

Configurable role-based permissions allow network inventory platforms to balance utility with security by empowering insight generation without unauthorized information leakage. Key capabilities include:

Customizable User Profiles

Create identity-centric access controls through groups, teams or individual assignments to define inventory dataset visibility. This ensures users only see asset details, queries and reports applicable to their responsibilities like help desk ticketing, capacity planning, license reconciliation or other duties.

Audit Trails and Access Logs

Comprehensive activity monitoring provides visibility into which users viewed, modified or exported what inventory data and when. Reviewing access chronologies aids troubleshooting, internal investigations, and external regulatory audits while serving as a deterrent against improper data interactions.

Inventory tools that lack basic access to governance open themselves up to insider risks. Role-based permissions get relevant insights to the right teams without wholesale exposure that undermines security or compliance. Customized profiles based on principles of least privilege prevent unauthorized extraction or manipulation of confidential inventory data.

Conclusion: An Analytics Foundation

Network inventory tools collect immense asset data, but this typically gets underutilized for strategic initiatives when merely dumped into basic lists. Utilizing advanced yet user-friendly features for ad hoc queries, systems integrations, and customized reporting unlocks an analytics foundation. This foundation maximizes hardware and software value. With flexible data exploration, unlocking inventory platform potential allows technology investments to dynamically align with business objectives. This approach shifts the perspective from presenting static views of expenditures to fostering proactive asset management.

Fitness has always been a cornerstone of health and well-being, but the pandemic has highlighted its importance. As brick-and-mortar gyms were forced to close due to COVID regulations, virtual workouts stepped in to fill the gap. This has resulted in a surge in global downloads of fitness apps – from 1.97 billion in 2019 to 2.48 billion in 2021. Although the growth rate may not be as high as when gyms reopen, virtual fitness is here to stay – 80% of gym members plan to continue utilizing digital workouts after the pandemic ends.

Given this, it’s no surprise that business owners are taking advantage of this niche opportunity. This article will provide information on how to create a fitness app and the most popular solutions on the market.

What are the leading types of fitness apps?

Activity tracking apps

Activity tracking apps can help users promote a healthier and more active life. By leveraging geolocation and accelerometer technology, these apps track and calculate users’ daily steps, exercise information, calories burned, sleep data, and more.

Popular examples of such apps include ASICS RunKeeper, designed specifically for runners and provides tracking features for running, walking, swimming, and more. In addition, many of these apps are compatible with wearable devices such as Apple Watch or Android Wear.

Workout applications

The development of workout applications provides fitness fanatics with personalized workout routines, instructional videos, and other on-demand fitness activities. In addition, these apps are often compatible with numerous tracking devices, smartwatches, smart scales, and other smart gadgets, providing users with an all-encompassing look at their fitness progress.

Core features of a workout app usually consist of the same components of any other fitness app, such as gamification elements to inspire users to exercise, calorie and water intake tracking, personalization of workouts based on user preferences, and the ability to share daily fitness results with others.

An illustration of a popular workout app is Planet Fitness, which had the most downloads in the US in the first half of 2022, reaching 12 million users.

Smart coach apps

Smart Coach fitness applications leverage AI-powered computer vision to make exercising safe and injury-free. By utilizing motion tracking, 3D pose estimation, and machine learning algorithms, these solutions are able to analyze users’ movements and give feedback on their exercise technique. For instance, apps like Tempo utilize in-app 3D sensors to count reps, correct form and recommend the right weights for users during more than 2,000 guided workouts.

Diet and nutrition apps

Nutrition and diet apps have seen tremendous growth in recent years, as they enable people to maintain a balanced diet and lead healthier lifestyles. App features such as a food database, barcode scanning, food logger, meal planner, calorie calculator, water consumption tracker, shopping list organizer, and recommended recipes have all contributed to their success.

MyFitnessPal is one of the most successful diet apps, generating $171 million in revenue in 2021 through its premium subscription service.

Meditation apps

The global market for meditation apps was estimated to be worth $1.1 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach $6.8 billion by 2030. This can be attributed to increasing levels of stress around the world, with data showing that 87% of adults in the US feel overwhelmed due to prolonged stress and economic crises. Meditation and mental wellness apps offer users a range of features, such as integration with wearables to track sleep data, gamification rewards, tailored recommendations, geo-location services to find fellow users, and live streaming of meditation classes and audio content.

Calm, one of the leading meditation and mental wellness apps, has surpassed 100 million downloads and reported consumer spending of around $119 million in 2021. This app is an example of the success that this niche can bring and the potential it has to continue growing in the years to come.

Yoga apps

These mobile solutions provide yoga sessions and practices tailored to both beginners and longtime yogis, on-demand. Yoga-Go is one of the most downloaded yoga apps in 2021, with over 5.2+ million downloads. It offers users home-based yoga and pilates workouts to help them tone their body and manage their emotions.

Other popular yoga apps offer audio-guided yoga sessions, structured yoga training plans, and pose reference guides. Similar to meditation apps, these apps also feature live-streaming, geolocation, gamified elements, and personalized recommendations.

Move-to-earn apps

Apps that offer rewards for exercising have gained traction due to the crypto craze. Move-to-earn apps are game-like and users are compensated with either crypto or tokens for working out. These rewards can be used to make in-app purchases, traded on exchanges, or invested in other cryptocurrencies.

The move-to-earn app category is characterized by blockchain and gamification, and some apps even incorporate immersive technologies to enhance the digital experience. DEFY is a noteworthy example; this location-based game utilizes augmented reality to create a virtual metaverse world where users fight an evil tech corporation while earning FCOIN rewards as they complete tasks.

Step-by-Step Fitness App Development

Start by determining what your fitness app is going to focus on. Will it be guided meditations or on-demand workouts? Once you know this, you can then research the niche to see if there is a demand for this type of app and if it is profitable. Look at the top-grossing apps in the niche and see what kind of features they offer, which could give you some insight into how to develop your own app. After this, pinpoint a problem in the niche that your app could solve. Once you have identified the problem and researched the niche, you will be more prepared to make the right decision regarding your fitness app.

Prior to beginning your fitness app development, it is essential to do in-depth market research. This will enable you to determine the key market players, what features are commonly found in fitness apps, and any mistakes and issues that have occurred. Additionally, you should gain an understanding of who your target audience is by examining the user base of your competitors, engaging in interviews, and creating user personas with distinct needs, problems, and interests. Ultimately, through competitor data and customer insights, you will be able to ensure that your app is meeting the requirements of the correct users with the correct features.

If you want to ensure a successful fitness app, it is important to hire vetted developers. It is a good idea to choose a tech partner that has a well-established experience of similar projects and shares your business goals. You have the option of either recruiting a team in-house or outsourcing the entire development process to a vendor. Outsourcing provides more cost-efficiency, quality assurance, and a faster hiring process.

With the team in place, it’s time to shape the concept of your business idea and define a set of features. Your development team will collaborate with you to form and solidify core app features, user personas, and customer journey maps. Additionally, this research process will provide an understanding of your competitors and target audience, as well as an outline of the main objectives of your solution, which will be summarized in brief.

It’s time to create a captivating UI/UX for your digital product. Your UI/UX designers will develop a few prototypes, based on user personas and market research, and test them with a focus group of target users. The prototype that receives the most positive feedback will be the final draft of the product’s interface, which will then be sent to the development team. It’s important to make the interface highly intuitive, without unnecessary screens and processes, such as a long sign-in process. The app should take the user directly to the task at hand and smoothly navigate them through the registration, onboarding, schedule, and goal screens.

At this stage, developers determine the technology stack necessary to transform a product idea into a fully-functional fitness app. The choice of the tech stack is based on the tech maturity of the company, the app’s requirements, and the cost expectations. The development team will plan the process of creating the app and document all milestones in the following materials: a technical design document, a product roadmap, and a technical requirements document.

The technical design document will contain a detailed plan with system architecture, business logic, interfaces, and all other necessary information to build the solution.

The product roadmap will be a shared source of truth with both short and long-term goals, timelines, and costs.

Finally, the technical requirements document will provide a complete description of all system requirements.

Testing and developing the MVP is a key step in the process of creating a fitness app. This allows you to test your product hypothesis without having to spend time and resources on the entire feature set. The QA team will ensure that the product meets the initial business objectives and tech requirements. Once the MVP is ready, developers can release it on the App Store or Google Play Store to get real-user feedback.

Once your mobile fitness app has reached the MVP stage, it’s time to add nice-to-have features and check for bugs and inconsistencies. To ensure your product’s long-term success, you should continually maintain and update it. This will keep your solution up-to-date with the latest platform versions, changing user demands, and competitive pressures. Additionally, use a built-in mobile analytics tool such as Firebase or Mixpanel to track your app’s performance and keep an eye on user reviews for bug reports and ideas to improve the app.

The bottom line

The fitness app market is ripe for the picking, and it offers considerable monetization potential for savvy business owners. But creating a wellness app can be difficult due to the complexity of features, technology, and design.

Programming languages were used even before computers were invented. For example, player piano scrolling, that long roll of coded paper tape, is considered an early form of programming because it contained the instructions needed to make the piano play a tune.

The first computers were programmed by switching switches and reconfiguring equipment. As a result, the early programmers had to be intimately familiar with computer hardware. But we’ve come a long way, and high-level programming languages require little or no familiarity with basic hardware.

Up until recently, corporate directors could bring laptops or tablets to board meetings (or, with larger firms, have assistants with these devices sitting behind them) to use as research tools if the need arose. The key word here is “tools”-the devices were used to gather information so that the director could speak intelligently or vote on a particular topic-the computer system could even make a recommendation for action to be taken, but the technology has always been subservient to the director, who can ignore the data gathered or the recommendations of so-called “artificial intelligence.”

AI as decision makers
Well, the game has just changed! As Rob Wile wrote in Business Insider in 2014 in an article titled “Venture Capital Firm Just Named Algorithm to Its Board of Directors – Here’s What It Really Does,” the computer analysis system was named an equal, not a tool, to the Board of Directors. Wile writes, “Deep Knowledge Ventures, a firm that works on drug projects for age-related diseases and regenerative medicine, says a program called VITAL can make investment recommendations for life sciences companies by analyzing large amounts of data…. How Does the Algorithm Work? VITAL makes its decisions by scanning future company funding, clinical trials, intellectual property and previous funding rounds.” The real trump card in this story is that VITAL is a voting member of the Board with as much weight as any other member.

The post The 10 best programming languages to learn appeared first on In Code-OU.

]]>
  • Swift
Swift has become more popular than Objective-C in recent years. It is a programming language for developing native apps for iOS or Mac OS. It can also be said to be the programming language with the greatest potential to change the future. Native apps have been found to outperform cross-platform hybrid apps, with the SpriteKit engine making it easier to create 2D games. In fact, Swift builds on the successes of C and Objective-C, but without the limitations of compatibility.
  • Go
Go is the language of 2009, the era of multicore processors, whereas languages like Python and Java emerged in the years of single-threaded development environments. That’s why Go takes into account multitasking and works with it. Instead of the well known Threads, which in most languages occupy a lot of memory (for example, in Java, it is 1 Mb per thread), in Go there is a goroutine that “eats” only 2 Kb of memory. You can create as many as a thousand or a million horoutines and it will have practically no effect on the application’s performance.
  • PHP
PHP is used everywhere thanks to WordPress. 80% of sites with over 10 million users use PHP. Examples of such sites would be Facebook and Wikipedia. PHP does not have any strict rules for writing code, and it is flexible in solving various problems. PHP is a great choice for web developers as it is the server-side scripting language for both Worldpress and Facebook.
  • C++
C++ was created in 1983 as an alternative to C and immediately gained a well-deserved popularity. Its main feature is predefined classes. Microsoft Windows and Google Chrome are the most famous examples of C++ projects. Adobe and Amazon projects can add to this list. This programming language remains in demand to this day because it has a powerful toolkit that can be adapted in different areas such as finance, banking, games, communications, electronic payment systems, retail, and more.
  • Python
This language is the future, and that’s no exaggeration. Firstly, it’s easy to understand and use: Python is gradually being introduced into the curriculum, replacing outdated Pascal and other “wooden” languages everywhere. Secondly, it’s neural networks: if a developer gets into machine learning, he immediately turns his attention to Python. Why? This language has become rich with a sufficient number of libraries focused on neural networks (Ruby loses out in this regard).
  • JavaScript
According to statistics compiled by the Stackoverflow (Stack Overflow Developer Survey) which audited more than 64,000 developers in 173 countries, JavaScript has become the most used programming language in the world. It provides the ability to create interactive websites and is one of the main web technologies along with HTML and CSS, since most browsers can use JS in one form or another.
  • Java
Java is one of the most practical programming languages to learn. Its popularity cannot be overestimated, as most (90%) of Fortune companies use Java to develop backend systems and desktop applications. Cross-platform is achieved thanks to the JVM.
  • C#
Developed by Microsoft, this multi-paradigm general-purpose programming language has been used to develop applications on the Microsoft platform. C# is an object-oriented language used to develop applications based on .NET frameworks. And, if that’s your market, C# is the best language for building native applications for the Microsoft platform. It is also the recommended language for game development using the Unity Game engine.
  • Kotlin
Kotlin is rapidly evolving and has several advantages. Among them:
  • conciseness of the programming language;
    compatibility with Java;
    is supported by Google;
    a growing community.
It is possible that soon applications for Android devices will be written exclusively in Kotlin, so those wishing to develop in the direction of mobile development are strongly encouraged to take a closer look at this language.

    1. Rust
In 2016, Rust took first place in the “what developers love most” poll on Stack Overflow. Rust was the programming language that developers really appreciate (79.1% of the votes). The open-source development language, developed by the Mozilla Foundation, works as a low-level language.

What’s most interesting here is that Rust emphasizes secure code (i.e., objects are managed by the programming language from start to finish). While it has no inheritance, it has traits and structures. It is universal and rests on three pillars: ergonomics, speed, and safety.

Database software is used to create, edit and maintain database files and records, making it easy to create files and records, enter data, edit, update and generate reports. The software also provides data storage, backup and reporting, multiple access management and security. Strong database security is especially important today because data theft is becoming more common. Database software is sometimes also called a “database management system” (DBMS).

Database software simplifies data management by allowing users to store data in a structured form and then access it. It usually has a graphical interface to help create and manage data, and in some cases users can create their own databases using database software.

A database usually requires comprehensive database software known as a database management system (DBMS). A DBMS serves as an interface between a database and its end users or programs, allowing users to retrieve, update, and manage the organization and optimization of information. An RDBMS also facilitates database oversight and control by allowing various administrative operations such as performance monitoring, tuning, backups, and restores.

Some examples of popular database or DBMS programs include MySQL, Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server, FileMaker Pro, Oracle Database, and dBASE.

    What is a MySQL database?
MySQL is an open-source relational database management system based on SQL. It was designed and optimized for web applications and can run on any platform. As new and different requirements have emerged on the Internet, MySQL has become the platform of choice for web developers and web applications. Because MySQL is designed to handle millions of queries and thousands of transactions, it is a popular choice for e-commerce businesses that need to manage multiple money transfers. On-demand flexibility is a key feature of MySQL.

MySQL is the RDBMS behind some of the world’s leading Web sites and Web applications, including Airbnb, Uber, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

All programmers write executable code for computers, but what distinguishes system programmers from application programmers is the purpose of the software they write. Application programming produces software that causes computer hardware to generate something for the user, whether it be a spreadsheet or graphics for a game. System programming produces software that accesses and controls the inner workings of the computer’s hardware and operating system.

Application programming usually involves issuing system commands to use basic functions of the computer’s hardware and operating system, such as saving a certain piece of data in the computer’s physical memory or a file on the hard drive. Programs of this type have nothing to do with the details of hard disk or physical memory operation. Conversely, system programmers care about the details of the operating system and hardware components. This allows them to create software that defragments hard disks and checks the integrity of the computer’s physical memory.

In addition to their ability to create such tools, systems programmers are usually experts in the basic functioning of operating systems. All programmers are familiar with system calls, thread management, and I/O processing, but system programming requires the software engineer to be able to manipulate these operating system mechanisms. This allows the system programmer to perform specialized settings and automate system maintenance tasks.

Knowledge of the operating system kernel is also necessary to maximize application performance on a particular hardware configuration. For example, very busy online retailers need their websites and transaction processing systems to run as efficiently and reliably as possible. Using their knowledge of the internal mechanics of operating systems and hardware components, such as how to make a particular operating system optimize thread processing or which algorithms run faster on which hardware components, a systems programmer can help fine tune application performance.

This detailed access to the inner workings of hardware components and the operating system requires that system programming be done in a language that provides this type of low-level hardware access. Languages such as Java, Python, or Ruby on Rails are what programmers call high-level languages. This means that they make it easier to program applications without allowing the programmer to handle the fine details of hardware control. System programming requires exactly this kind of access, so system programmers use a low-level language such as C or C ++.

    Compilable: C, C++, Pascal
Interpretable: Visual Basic Script (VBScript), JavaScript, Python, PHP
Conditionally compilable: C# and the rest of the .Net languages, Java for Java-machine

A program in a programming language is first of all text. Text is human-readable and relatively easy to be processed by a computer because letters and other text characters in the computer are represented by integers, they are also called character codes. The program, which processes the text in a programming language and creates a sequence of instructions for the microprocessor is called a compiler. That is, the compiler translates numbers that humans perceive as text into other numbers that the computer perceives as microprocessor commands.

Languages that require a compiler are called compilers. To run such a program, it is not enough just to write it. It is necessary to run it through a compiler, to get an executable module, for example, in the Windows operating system is a file with the extension .exe, and only then run it.

This scheme, of course, did not suit everyone, and programmers invented languages that do not require a compiler. For these languages, text to microprocessor commands are translated inconspicuously right after you run a text program. However, to do this, the text program must be run under another ready-made program, called the Interpreter. The Interpreter does this invisible compilation. Languages that require an interpreter are called Interpreted languages.

The main difference between compiled languages and interpreted languages is the speed of execution of programs. It is said that programs written in compiled languages run faster than in interpreted ones. But the process of writing and testing the interpreted program is easier, because there is no need for the intermediate compilation step.

For some languages, such as C#, compilation is done in a special way in two steps. The point is that in the .Net environment, a C# program doesn’t become a microprocessor instruction set after compilation, but is converted into another intermediate language, CIL – Common Intermediate Language, (formerly called MSIL – Microsoft Intermediate Language) which is given to the .Net compiler for execution. This sequence of conversions from one language to another makes it possible to not worry about the type of microprocessor installed in the computer and gives more flexibility to the programs.

In a similar way, a TypeScript program first compiled into a text program, or as they say, into JavaScript code, which can then be executed by the JavaScript interpreter. This complication allows us to take advantage of the strict data typing and compile-time error catching that are available in TypeScript.

Types of databases https://codeuino.org/types-of-databases/ Wed, 01 Dec 2021 14:24:00 +0000 https://codeuino.org/?p=68 A database is an organized set of structured information or data, usually stored electronically in a computer system.

A database is an organized set of structured information or data, usually stored electronically in a computer system. A database is usually controlled by a database management system (DBMS). Together, the data and the DBMS and related applications are called a database system, which is often shortened simply to the concept of a database.

There are many different types of databases. The best database for a particular organization depends on how the organization intends to use the data.

Relational databases. Relational databases became dominant in the 1980s. Items in a relational database are organized as a set of tables with columns and rows. Relational database technology provides the most efficient and flexible way to access structured information.
Object-oriented databases. Information in an object-oriented database is represented as objects, as in object-oriented programming.
Distributed databases. A distributed database consists of two or more files located at different sites. The database can be stored on multiple computers, located in the same physical location, or scattered across different networks.
Data warehouses. A centralized data warehouse, a data warehouse is a type of database specifically designed for rapid querying and analysis.
NoSQL databases. NoSQL, or non-relational database, allows you to store and process unstructured and semi-structured data (as opposed to a relational database, which defines how all data inserted into a database must be composed). NoSQL databases became popular as Web applications became more pervasive and complex.
Graph databases. A graph database stores data in terms of entities and relationships between entities.
OLTP databases. An OLTP database is a fast, analytical database designed for a large number of multi-user transactions.

These are just a few of the several dozen types of databases in use today. Other, less common databases are designed for very specific scientific, financial, or other functions. In addition to the different types of databases, changes in technology development approaches and significant advances such as cloud technology and automation are pushing databases in entirely new directions. Some of the latest databases include:

Open Source Databases (OpenSource). An OpenSource database system is an open source system; such databases can be SQL or NoSQL databases.
Cloud Databases. A cloud database is a set of structured or unstructured data that is stored on a private, public, or hybrid cloud computing platform. There are two types of cloud database models: traditional and Database as a Service (DBaaS). In the case of DBaaS, the administrative tasks and maintenance are performed by the service provider.
Multi-model database. Multi-model databases combine different types of database models into a single integrated server part. This means that they can support different types of data.
Document Database / JSON. Document databases, designed to store, retrieve, and manage document-oriented information, are a modern way to store data in JSON format rather than rows and columns.
Standalone databases. The newest and most revolutionary type of database, autonomous databases (also known as offline databases) are cloud-based and use machine learning to automate database configuration, security, backups, updates, and other routine management tasks traditionally performed by database administrators.
